Revenue Development and Fundraising Certificate Part 3: Strategic Communication (Online Classroom)

Asking for money can be hard; ensuring that you have the money necessary to provide your programs and services is essential to helping the people counting on you. The Revenue Development & Fundraising Certificate is comprised of three core classes and three electives, giving time for each participant to truly explore the elements of fundraising in depth. Through a cohort model, nonprofit development professionals will build a connected community with a culture of learning and feedback. Participants will learn best practices in the field, and walk away with a fundraising plan ready for implementation.

Certificate Career Path: Program Leader (Mid-career nonprofit professionals who lead teams and programs; 5-10 years serving in the nonprofit sector)

Part 1:  Fundraising Landscape Thursday, February 4th, 2021 (9 am - 11:30 am, 12:30 pm - 3 pm CT)

Part 1 is an engaging session offering participants the opportunity to learn in an interactive experience with everyone involved. In this session, participants will evaluate current fund-raising trends and how they apply to participants’ nonprofits. Participants will also examine how to maximize volunteer time and talents and begin to develop personalized fund-raising plans. Pre-course work is assigned after registration and homework is assigned throughout the course to maximize learning.

Learning Objectives:
•    Identify and incorporate relevant fund-raising trends
•    Recruit and effectively engage volunteers to support fund raising efforts
•    Create a personalized fund-raising plan to guide their efforts

Part 2: Laying the Foundation Thursday, February 18th, 2021 (9 am - 11:30 am, 12:30 pm - 3 pm CT)

In this interactive session, participants will dive deeper into the cycle of development - the process through which we identify, cultivate, solicit and steward the gifts from major investors to our organizations. From the homework and activities in part 1, participants will begin to develop their own organizational fund-raising plans.

•    Identify donors for focused cultivation/continued relationship
•    Develop cultivation/engagement strategies
•    Determine who and how to ask for financial support

Part 3: Strategic Communication Thursday, March 4th, 2021 (9 am - 11:30 am, 12:30 pm - 3 pm CT)

In this highly interactive session, participants will “put it all together.” Participants will give an overview talk highlighting their nonprofits, make an ask and share their fund-raising plans. Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their development by practicing skills learned and receive real-time coaching and feedback to ensure immediate transferability to the workplace!

•    Give a compelling and engaging overview talk to draw donors into their work
•    Make an effective ask for financial support
•    Utilize a personalized fund-raising plan to guide their efforts 

This certificate is part of a 3-part series.
