Tari Hughes

President and CEO

You could say the nonprofit sector had Tari at “hello.” Tari has dedicated her career to the sector, and is now thrilled to serve as the fourth President and CEO of the Center for Nonprofit Management. Tari spent time in the arts world as vice president of development for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and previously worked at Vanderbilt University in several alumni and development capacities. Before joining CNM’s team, Tari most recently served as President of the Nashville Public Library Foundation for 12 years, where she raised more than $41 million, developed the Nashville Public Library Literary Award Gala into a premier philanthropic event, spearheaded the “Write the Next Chapter” campaign, and, of course, read some great books.

Tari is excited to lead CNM into the future and continue strengthening and celebrating Middle Tennessee’s amazing nonprofit community. She is especially interested in looking at ways the sector can collaborate to solve complex community issues.

Tari and her husband, Jim, have four daughters and are enjoying their new roles as “Gigi and Jimbo” to Kate and Eden. Tari is an active member of the Nashville Downtown Rotary Club and is a Leadership Nashville alumna, and she volunteers for organizations such as her church, Room in the Inn, and Book’em. When she is not at work, Tari can be found attending boot camp classes at the Y or preparing delicious raw, vegan foods.
