Six years to recover donations?

August 12, 2013

A new report from “Giving USA” shows that it may take more than six years for organizations to raise as much money as they did in 2007.

According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, donations are still down 11 percent from 2007–just before the economic decline–and that’s after an increase of 1.9 percent last year. Billionaires may be recovering faster. The report shows that nine gifts of $100 million or more have already been donated this year, while only seven were made all year in both 2009 and 2010.
