About the Organization

The mission of The Village at Glencliff is to provide a dignified, loving, and hospitable medical respite/ bridge housing community for our most vulnerable friends experiencing homelessness in Nashville in an effort to meet each individuals most basic needs so that they are empowered to focus on healing and permanent supportive housing.

While the vision of the Village was cast long ago, it is a new organization incorporated in 2021 and currently employs just three staff. The next Executive Director, therefore, will be tasked with building upon what has been done but also creating new policies, procedures, partners, donors, and staff culture from scratch. We need an experienced, adaptable, creative leader with fresh ideas and the drive to take the reins of a startup nonprofit that has the potential to change the lives of thousands.  

Overview of Position

The Executive Director is responsible for designing and monitoring a comprehensive plan of operations for The Village at Glencliff, and for supporting the Board of Directors in fulfilling its duties. Has responsibility for fundraising and financial management to ensure that the organization remains financially sound. Responsible for establishing processes to ensure the appropriateness of all accepted referrals, and the safety and wellbeing of all participants in our care. Is responsible for conducting operations in a manner that is consistent with the organizational mission and vision and upholds our unique organizational culture.

Job Responsibilities

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent the philosophy and mission of The Village at Glencliff in all professional interactions and decision-making
  • Ensure overall operational effectiveness of The Village at Glencliff programs
  • Provide Board members with information needed to fulfill their roles
  • Work with Board of Directors to create a Strategic Plan for The Village at Glencliff
  • Monitor implementation of the strategic plan
  • Develop, expand, and support relationships with strategic partners
  • Oversee the development of appropriate organizational policies and procedures
  • Oversee an annual needs assessment and evaluation of The Village at Glencliff staff, programs, and activities
  • Supervise staff and support continuing education in the areas of fundraising, communications, donor relations, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), financial management, and program management
  • Ensure appropriate checks and balances with regard to financial operations
  • Prepare the annual budget
  • Oversee annual financial audit process
  • Grant writing / Grant management
  • Program evaluation / Grant reporting
  • Ensure that organizational policies are reviewed and updated at least every two years
  • Develop, expand, and support relationships with all area hospitals that might refer to us
  • Ensure the appropriateness of all accepted referrals in collaboration with healthcare partners.

Qualifications

Ideal Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding and embodiment of The Village at Glencliff mission and vision
  • Ability to work within a diverse community and appreciate different perspectives
  • Advanced training/experience in program administration
  • Familiarity with medical respite/recuperative care, health care, and homeless services
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
  • Trauma-informed leadership and supervision skills
  • Strong fundraising and grant-writing skills
  • Willingness to be a team player
  • Graduate degree in related field
  • 10 years of experience in related field strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of common office software (e.g., Microsoft, Google, etc.)
  • Lived experience of homelessness, behavioral health struggles, discrimination, and poverty are considered assets.
