Job Summary

The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville (FUUN), a liberal religious community, is seeking a 20-hour-a-week Worship Arts Technical Coordinator to coordinate all technical aspects and provide support to our Sunday morning Worship Services and special events.

This position will be filled as soon as possible. Applications will be considered as they are received.

Job Responsibilities

This is an overview of duties and responsibilities this position will be responsible for. During times of pandemic, this list has and will change based upon the needs of the church. This position will play a large role in assisting with the technical aspects of transitioning to multi-platform (in-person and online) worship services.

  • Manages the Zoom experience for Sunday morning worship and online social hour which includes set up, coordination of staff and volunteer worship team, rehearsal, execution and uploading onto social media platforms.
  • Assist in organizing and running Zoom for church-wide meetings as needed (i.e. congregational meetings, fundraising events)
  • Develop a tech team of volunteers for zoom, sound and video recording which includes recruiting (as needed), training, scheduling, and supervising for church related events.
  • Manage paid technicians to run sound for non-church events (i.e. weddings, funerals, workshops, conferences)
  • Assist in creation of worship media
    • Simple video editing
    • Creating and assembling Power-Point slides
    • Manage digital library of videos
    • Assist with recording of musical ensembles
  • Systems operation and utilization  
  • Maintain, repair and organize all audio and video related equipment
  • Attend and participate in monthly worship team meetings

Working conditions and physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, handle objects, walk up and down stairs, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Excellent hearing is needed to adequately perform the role.

The employee is required to be available to work outside of regular business hours which includes Sunday mornings 8am to 11am and other times as needed. Some hours may continue remotely, with specifics to be agreed to with the Lead Minister. The employee must be able to work cooperatively with other staff members and with volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • High customer service skills
  • Good time management skills, including organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of Zoom, MS-Office, G-Suite, sound systems operations and video recordings.
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new technology easily
  • Able to observe appropriate boundaries, when working with congregants
  • Aligned with Unitarian Universalist values

Salary is $18-$20/hour, based upon experience and UUA compensation guidelines.
