Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Property Director, the Senior General Maintenance Tech will provide maintenance repairs and follow through on assigned projects.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Oversee and implement the Preventative Maintenance Program
  • Perform preventative maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on all plumbing, electrical (including all light fixtures and bulbs), and HVAC
  • Monitor pool chemicals on a daily basis and attend to any issues, as required to ensure the safety of all staff and program participants
  • Schedule and plan pool maintenance projects with the Property Director
  • Effectively operate Facility Dude, an online work order tracking system, by creating, assigning, and completing Preventative/Planned Work Order requests
  • Monitor and repair, as needed, all vehicles, including buses, trucks, gators, golf carts, and trailers
  • Monitor and repair needed cabins, assembly halls, camp buildings, and housing units on the property.
  • Assist in managing all necessary painting on the camp property
  • Be able to perform minor repairs on buildings, fences, and activity areas around camp.
  • Work on internal camp projects as needed.
  • Oversee safe storage and maintenance of all shop equipment and inventory
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed in accordance with YMCA of Middle TN policy and all local, state, and federal laws
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions

Qualifications

  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • A desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants, and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Must present a professional image possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum five years experience in relevant maintenance field work, power and hand tools, hardware and construction materials, tools and processes, vehicle maintenance, and operation of heavy equipment
  • Basic woodworking and painting skills preferred
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations 

 Certifications Required:

  • Before the start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within 30 days of hire: Basic Life Support, First Aid
  • Within six months of hire: Certified Pool Operator certification
  • Within six months of hire: Complete course training and Certify in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
