Job Summary
The Director of Finance and Strategy will help the organization plan for the future by assessing and projecting cash flow, leading the development of the annual budget, assisting with developing grant budgets, and producing financial statements and reports. The Director of Finance and Strategy is charged with enhancing and maintaining the data-sharing processes of the organization’s systems. This position serves as a backup to the Director of Finance and Accounting. This position is funded in part by and in collaboration with one or more grants. Personnel must adhere to the goals and outcomes detailed in the grant contract. This position is funded for the duration of the grant(s) and subsequent renewal may result in modification of job duties and responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead all grants’ financial monitoring and audit requests in collaboration with the Grants Manager.
- Provide financial information by researching and analyzing accounting data; prepare reports and deliver results to the management and Board of Directors.
- Prepare annual organization budget in collaboration with the senior management team.
- Examine departmental efficiency; research, recommend, and implement systems or process changes as needed. Monitor investment accounts; work with the Board of Directors to conduct periodic reviews of investment advisor performance.
- Establish and manage the integration between the accounting system, the HR information system, the donor management system, and the case management system.
- Oversee all financial, program, and grants accounting in collaboration with the Grants Manager to ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with relevant budgets throughout the grant/fund period, including allocations, budget amendments, and invoicing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Five years of relevant experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Project management skills.
- Systems integration experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software. Demonstrated experience providing services to low-income or vulnerable individuals.
