Job Summary

The candidates will provide direct service to students in grades Pre-K through 4th grade.  They will assist in the development and implementation of instruction.  They will monitor and facilitate students in accordance with laws and regulations.

This is a part-time position (15 -25 hrs. per week) that offers a split shift.  These positions are for 10 months.

The shift is 6:30-8:00 AM / 1:45-6:00 PM

We have positions in the following locations:

  • Casa Azafran Early Learning Center
  • Cambridge Early Learning Center
  • Fall-Hamilton Elementary School
  • Ivanetta H. Davis Early Learning Center
  • J.E. Moss Elementary School
  • Ross Early Learning Center

Job Responsibilities

These are the essential duties/tasks performed by the position in the order of importance or time spent.  This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.

  • Supervises students in before and after school programs.
  • Supports instructional implementation under the guidance of the Site Supervisor.
  • Tutors students individually and in small groups.  Assists students to master standards and objectives and reinforces learning objectives.  Provides additional assistance to students with exceptional needs, including but not limited to, English Language Learners and those with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Enforces policies and procedures set forth by Metro Nashville Public Schools, state and federal grants, the Department of Children Services, and the Department of Human Services.
  • Participates in trainings and meetings meeting minimum requirements for early childhood education.
  • Monitors and facilitates the safety of students and safety procedures.
  • Prepares lesson materials, bulletin boards, equipment, and other signage.  Organizes activities that support the whole child through academic learning, arts, health and wellness, and social and emotional learning.
  • Researches, identifies, and models best practices in instructional and grant-funded program practices.

Qualifications

Education (training/degree): Required minimum: High School or equivalent Preferred: Not Applicable

Experience Requirements: Prior early childhood experience

 Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations Required: Not Applicable

Skills Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Professionalism skills. Prior early childhood experience preferred.  Knowledge of Dept. Human Services regulations and guidelines for early childhood education
