Resources for nonprofit advocacy: Legislative Update follow-up

We are grateful to The Healing Trust and The Sycamore Institute for partnering with us to present last week's "Legislative Update: How Your Mission Could Be Affected & What Can You Do About It?" session.

After welcoming remarks from The Healing Trust's President and CEO Kristen Keely-Dinger and CNM's Tari Hughes, the group split into four breakout sessions to discuss pending legislation related to immigration, education, healthcare, and youth/childcare.

Special thanks to group facilitators Lisa Sherman-Nikolaus of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, Taylor Hall of TN SCORE, Beth Uselton of The Healing Trust and Mandy Pellegrin of The Sycamore Institute, and Linda O'Neal of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.

The half-day forum concluded with an advocacy strategies panel led by moderator Matia Powell, Community Engagement Coordinator of Alignment Nashville (seated far left below). Panel members included government relations consultant Stewart Clifton, Brenda Gadd of the Tennessee Bar Association, Taylor Hall of TN SCORE, and Meredith Sullivan Benton of The Healing Trust (left to right in photo below).

"Any opportunity to discuss public policy among people who are working on similar topics but may not know each other yet is GOLD, as far as I'm concerned," one attendee said.

Late this summer, we will introduce the next Legislative Update forum that will focus on the legislation that passed during this session. Stay tuned!
