New Housing Catalyst Opportunity - Applications due May 11
For Nashville nonprofits in the affordable housing/development field:

Has your housing nonprofit applied for a Barnes Fund grant? The strongest grant applications are supported by healthy  nonprofits... so we are here to help. In a new catalyst program, the Mayor's Office and CNM are partnering to offer management and development support to strengthen your nonprofit -- resulting in an improved Barnes Fund grant application. Because before you build a house, you must set your foundation!

The catalyst program will be an ongoing partnership, and the opportunity described below is designed for organizations interested in applying for the fall round of 2017 Barnes Fund. (More info about other tracks and cohorts coming soon!)

This program follows the CNM catalyst model and includes:

  • four half-day sessions on management and development topics identified by the Mayor's Office and CNM:
    • project development
    • outcomes and evaluation
    • finances
    • people management and fundraising
  • individual consulting with local experts
  • peer learning and networking in the catalyst cohort model

"In partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management and the National Development Council, the Barnes Fund has created a capacity-building program designed to strengthen the management capacity of local nonprofit developers, with a focus on affordable housing finance and development. This program will include an organizational assessment, tailored technical assistance from local consultants, and a cohort-based training. This training explores the development process, financial analysis techniques, and structuring needed to successfully develop and finance affordable homeownership and rental housing development. Nonprofit Capacity Building applications are due May 11, 2017 at noon."
