Alliance for Better Nonprofits 2017 Board Excellence Conference
The Alliance for Better Nonprofits (ABN) will be hosting the 2017 Board Excellence Conference on Tuesday, May 2, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Regas Building in downtown Knoxville. This 2nd annual conference is designed to equip nonprofit board members, executive directors, and staff with best practices in board governance and modern thinking for effective operations, and is a unique opportunity to network with experts and community leaders committed to strengthening nonprofits in Tennessee.
“Carefully selected, active, and engaged boards are essential to the success of any organization,” says Dr. Jerry Askew, ABN President. “Our conference features best practices on a variety of subjects that would benefit all nonprofits in our region.” Breakout session topics include “Board Advocacy,” “Evaluating Your Executive Director,” Effective Board Committees & Group Dynamics,” and many more.
The keynote presentation will be delivered by Jim Schwarz, Senior Governance Consultant with BoardSource. Schwarz is a nonprofit expert who works with organizations to build high-performing boards. In addition to his work with BoardSource, Schwarz is founder and president of Compass Development & Governance Group, Inc., a consulting and training company serving for-profit businesses, mostly Fortune 500 companies.
