“As a new year begins and a new president is inaugurated, our city faces new challenges and opportunities. Middle Tennesseans have a long history of tapping into the transformational power of grassroots initiatives. Collaborate for a Cause is an opportunity for our region’s great organizations to continue to find creative solutions that capitalize on their unique competencies,” said Dr. Charla Long, executive director of the Institute for Law, Justice & Society.
Collaborate for a Cause experts and sessions will address:
Provider preferences for funding proposals that involve collaboration between multiple organizations;
Opportunities to expand services by working with other nonprofit, government and business partners; and
Sharing experiences and creating action plans involving collaborative initiatives.
“Last year our member organizations recognized the importance of maximizing resources by working together in a slowing economy. A collaborative attitude will be even more important and valuable in 2009. This conference provides organizations with essential equipping and networking opportunities,” said Lewis Lavine, president of The Center for Nonprofit Management.
An online working environment, specially designed for participants of this conference, will be unveiled. This environment will help organizations share resources, plan and continue collaboration.
Conference speakers and panelists include: Howard Gentry, Jr., CEO of the Nashville Area Chamber Public Benefit Foundation and co-sponsor of the recent Project Homeless Connect; Joanne Pulles, president of the HCA Foundation; J.D. Elliott, president of the Memorial Foundation; Pat Campbell, SunTrust Bank, senior vice president; and Sallie Hussey, president and chief executive officer of the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing/EAR Foundation.
