Board Development
If you identify a strong nonprofit, you will likely find a strong Board of Directors. Our consultants provide a wide range of board-focused services to improve organizational stability. These services range from conducting an assessment of your current board to help identify gaps in skills and abilities that need to be filled to leading a session about individual board member and collective board roles and responsibilities. We also provide guidance related to the board in its role of fundraising, and guide organizations in board recruitment. To get the process started, contact Kim Carpenter Drake, Vice President, at (615) 259-0100 ext. 305 or

Client Stories
"The Exchange Club Family Center, whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect, used the services of CNM Consultant Jim Vaillancourt during our year long transition to a Policy Governance board model. Jim is a wise and diplomatic person, traits that are essential if major changes are going to be successfully undertaken by a nonprofit board. Learning to use the Policy Governance concept is a little like learning to ride a bike. It is antithetical to traditional board thinking and management and thus initially hard to understand and accept. However, once a board ‘gets it,’ and is willing to commit to some hard work up front, it results in a stronger agency. Jim was a master at making all this happen."
