Is your nonprofit organization confronted by a unique challenge that is getting in the way of your growth? Are you operating at full capacity to take on the challenging issues of our day? Or are you ready to take the steps needed to move to the next level of service?

The Center for Nonprofit Management has developed a consulting practice that delivers a customized approach to helping our members address pressing issues. Our consultants recognize that every organization is different and experiences its challenges differently. Forget the cookie cutter… we design every consulting intervention on an individual basis to address the unique needs of the agency’s board and staff.

Our experienced team of consultants has been working with Middle Tennessee nonprofits for decades. Our goal is to help you create long-term change for the good for your organization. In short, you will be better off because we helped. To get the process started, contact Kim Carpenter Drake, Vice President, at (615) 259-0100 ext. 305 or kim@cnm.org.

Nonprofit Excellence Fund

For nonprofit organizations in need of financial assistance for consulting services, The Nonprofit Excellence Fund (NEF) was started in 2006 by CNM and a group of community leaders who provided funding to encourage and support excellence in nonprofit work in our community.

CRITERIA

The NEF general fund is available to nonprofits who meet the basic criteria outlined below. The intention of these guidelines is to insure that the funds are well invested in work that will improve our community and will leverage these funds to achieve success.

1. The organization must be a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation (individuals may not apply)
2. The organization must have been recognized as a 501c3 for at least three years and in good standing
3. The organization must make a significant positive impact on the community and demonstrate successful outcomes
4. The project must have the support of staff and board leadership required to successfully accomplish the proposed project

Types of projects available for consulting support vary based on organizational need. No specific preference is given to the type of consulting need or process identified.

SPECIAL FUNDS

Within NEF, there are currently two special funds of support available through partnership with the HCA Foundation and Baptist Healing Trust. To access these funds, the not-for-profit must meet the following criteria:

1. The organization must be a current funded partner of the foundation
2. Proposed projects are reviewed by the foundation (HCA or BHT) to determine that the work is in keeping with the purposes of their NEF support and that the organization is in good standing with the foundation

SUPPORT AVAILABLE

NEF funds are available on a first-come first-served basis.
No organization may receive more than $3,000 in support during a given 12 month period.
The percentage of funding available for a project is based on budget size and the nature of the project.
A maximum percentage for support is available on a sliding scale based on budget.
All consulting projects require an out-of-pocket commitment from the organization with 50% due at signing to begin work.
